Penetrating Keratoplasty (Cornea transplantation)
Dr. Duffey is fellowship trained in medical and surgical management of cornea problems. He commonly performs corneal transplantation for conditions such as keratoconus, corneal dystrophies, and corneal scar formation.
 Full-thickness penetrating keratoplasty (corneal transplant)
In addition to full thickness corneal transplants, Dr. Duffey also performs partial thickness transplants such as Descemet's stripping endothelial keratoplasty (DSAEK) and Anterior Lemellar Keratoplasty (ALK). These procedures allow a more rapid healing rate for most patients when compared with conventional full thickness corneal transplants. In addition, he often performs astigmatic keratotomy with cataract surgery or separately to correct astigmatism, whether it is congenital or related to other cornea problems. Other types of refractive surgery, such as refractive lens exchange (RLE) with intraocular lens implants, are also available for select patients. Please discuss your specific needs with Dr. Duffey.
